Rav Yisraeli said in his Sunday shiur this week a story he heard from Maran zt"l about Rav Zvi Pesach Frank. At the end of his life, Rav Frank had Alzheimer's and forgot everything, including who his immediate family members where. The one thing he didn't forget was learning. He still knew the entire Shas inside and out. Maran asked how is this possible, if he forger everything, how did he remember Shas? Maran explained that its not that Rav Frank remember Shas, it is part of Rav Frank himself. Shas was running through his veins just as his blood ran through them.
That is what the Gemorah means תורה דיליה הוא.
