The midrash says that Bnei Yisroel didn't keep the mitzvah of milah in Egypt and hence were unfit to eat the koraban pesach. This posed a problem for it was the merit of the korban pesach that would allow them to leave Egypt. So Hashem made winds carry the fragrant smell of gan eden and it absorbed into the pesach that Moshe was preparing. When Bnei Yisroel got a whiff of it they all wanted to eat it. Moshe said if you want a bite, you must circumcise! So then all Bnei Yisroel went ahead and circumcised themselves to be able to eat the pesach. From here we see the idea of the chulent and sushi Judaism. It is sometimes necessary to intice people to come with great smelling and tasting food and once they come, you have them hooked.
It is noteworthy that many times chazal refer to a gan eden experience through the sense of smell. It probably is because smell wasn't tainted by the sin of Adam and hence is the sense that can be used to experience that which comes from a place not connected to sin.
